Description
Do you know what is involved....
As your goods arrive in The Bahamas, it is up to you, the consignee, or your appointed customs broker, to file an entry with Bahamas Customs at the port of entry. Goods/Products may only be imported by their rightful owner or by their appointed Licensed Customs Broker. The importer of record must be stated on the bill of sale (invoice) as well as on the bill of lading or AirWay bill in the case of an air shipment. A Customs entry is not final until the shipment arrives at the port of entry, is authorized by the shipping agent, and all duties, taxes, and fees are paid in full. Furthermore, if an examination of your goods is required prior to Customs release, it is the responsibility of the importer of record or their appointed customs broker to arrange it.
**Please note
: In addition to a Customs Declaration, the importer must contact the Bahamas Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority (BAHFSA) to obtain import permits for commodities such as animals, food, or plants. If your shipment contains a vehicle older than 10 years, charitable donations, medical equipment, or other items covered by special government concessions, the importer must contact the appropriate government agency prior to import.
